State Member for Goyder

About Steven

I was born in Adelaide in 1962 and moved to Yorketown, Yorke Peninsula, with my mother and brother when I was four years of age.

After completing my schooling at Yorketown Area School I worked for the local council.

In 1988 I married local girl Donna. We built a house in Maitland and raised two wonderful children, Tyler and Kelsey.

I was Chief Executive Officer of the Orroroo Peterborough Council in the Mid North of South Australia from November 1993 to March 1999 and General Manager of a council in the Hunter Valley, NSW, from March 1999 to July 2000.

Before being elected Member for Goyder at the last State election I was Chief Executive Officer of the District Council of Yorke Peninsula from July 2000 to January 2006.

In April 2006 I was delighted to be appointed Shadow Minister for Employment, Training and Further Education, Shadow Minister for Youth and Shadow Minister for Gambling.

Following a Shadow Cabinet re-shuffle in April 2007 I was appointed Shadow Minister for Finance (dropping Youth and Gambling portfolios), and then in January 2008 I was given responsibility for Public Sector Management and Federal/State Relations.

Now Deputy Leader of the Opposition (appointed in July 2009) I also have the responsibility as Shadow Treasurer, Shadow Minister for Federal/State Relations and Shadow Minister for Government Enterprises.

My interests include wide ranging infrastructure investment / development in regional South Australia, family, sport, current affairs and friends.
