On Monday Member for Goyder Steven Griffiths MP met with Transport SA representatives to discuss the State Government controlled road network within the electorate.

“At the meeting I raised concerns about the poor condition of many of the roads within our region, including St Vincent Highway, particularly the section which has become extremely dangerous between Ardrossan and Stansbury, the Kulpara to Maitland and Maitland to Minlaton roads and the road from Kulpara to the communities of the Copper Coast. Mr Griffiths said.

“I was pleased to learn at the meeting that repair work will be undertaken on the section of St Vincent Highway between Ardrossan and Stansbury. Given the deplorable state of the road the need to repair this road to a safe condition is a priority.

“At the meeting with Transport SA I was given a commitment that a serious review would occur on the very poor section of road at the bottom of the Maitland hill on the Minlaton road, but without increased budget funding I fear that we will have to wait for repairs, stated Mr Griffiths.

“I also raised at the meeting the need for a review of the speed limit of Yorke Highway north of Ardrossan. This road has been improved in recent years but the speed limit has remained at 100 km/h“

“My concern still is however that the amount of dollars allocated for road maintenance in the region is not enough. I am now circulating a petition throughout the electorate calling for more funding for our roads. I will present the petition to Parliament when it resumes in September.

"I urge you to sign the petition as the power of the people is needed to show the State Government that we are sick of being ignored.

Copies of the petition can be requested by contacting my office on 8832 2455, visiting my website www.stevengriffiths.net or goyder@parliament.sa.gov.au. Your assistance in distributing them in prominent positions would also be appreciated.
